Analysis of the Characteristics of Various Butt Welding Flanges

Multiple types of welded flanges have different characteristics, and only by fully understanding their characteristics can they be utilized effectively, improve work efficiency, and improve production.
1. Simple structure and light weight
Butt welding flanges only have two main components: flange plates and docking pipes, so their structure is very simple. Compared to other connection methods, the weight of butt welding flanges is also very light, making it convenient for transportation and installation.
2. The connection is firm and the sealing is good
Butt welding flanges form a very strong connection by docking the pipes at both ends and placing gaskets and bolts between them. Meanwhile, due to the presence of gaskets, the sealing performance of the welded flange is also very good, which can effectively avoid any water or gas leakage.
3. Suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure environments
Due to the very tight connection structure of the welded flange and the high strength of the gasket and bolt materials, it is suitable for withstanding harsh environments such as high temperature and pressure. This is also one of the reasons why welded flanges are widely used in industrial fields such as chemical, petroleum, and natural gas.
4. Easy to repair and replace
Another advantage of welded flanges is their ease of maintenance and replacement. Due to the connection between the flange and the pipeline being fixed by bolts, when maintenance or replacement of the pipeline is required, it can be completed by simply loosening the bolts, without the need to dismantle the entire pipeline system, which greatly saves time and labor costs.
A butt welded flange is actually the same as a sliding flange, unless it is a cylinder between the hole and flange seat ring, with an axial flange to accommodate the end of the overlapping short pipe. Usually, overlapping flanges and overlapping ends are combined to assemble the system.
Socket welding flanges are similar to sliding flanges, unless they have a hole and a reverse hole size to insert pipes into a sliding flange similar to a flange. The diameter of the smaller hole is the same as that of the same pipe. It is a built-in hole located at the bottom and is a shoulder sleeve designed specifically for pipes. When using socket welded flanges, this solves any flow restrictions.
The threaded flange is connected through threaded fasteners, but the center of the product has a thread size corresponding to the pipeline, and its main advantage is that it can be assembled without welding.
Sliding flanges have a higher hub because the pipeline enters a single flange before welding, and they are welded internally and externally to provide sufficient strength to prevent leakage. Sliding flanges are a boring match for large pipelines, and they are welding of end neck flanges. Due to the previous high cost, many users used it, but the installation cost may not be comparable as there are fewer additional welded neck flanges.
