Types of Orifice Flanges
 
01/

Square-edged orifice flanges
These flanges have a sharp-edged orifice bore which produces a well-defined flow restriction in the pipeline. In applications requiring high accuracy and repeatability, square-edged orifice flanges are preferred as they minimize turbulence or edge distortion that may affect flow rate calculations.

Concentric orifice flanges
These flanges bear a single circular bore positioned concentrically within the face of the flange. The diameter of the orifice bore is normally smaller than that of the pipe, causing a pressure drop across the plate and allowing for flow rate measurement.

Eccentric orifice flanges
In this case, eccentric orifice flanges contain an off-center orifice bore that helps to reduce turbulences along with improving pressure recovery downstream from them. Unlike normal differential pressure measuring devices, restriction orifices serve as fixed-flow-restriction devices in pipelines.the bore serves to restrict the flow of a fluid in a pipe causing a pressure drop across an orifice plate.

Integral orifice flanges
These types of flanges contain the orifice plate as part of the flange assembly thus eliminating the requirement for separate installation of an orifice plate reducing complexity. There is a machined recess on the flange face where gaskets or o-rings are used to install and seal the orifice plate securely.
